Jeep Patriot

Hi Dougie,

You don't seem to be getting any luck with replys - can't help myself other than to say that I tow with a Grand Cherokee 3.0crd and it eats the job - I would say that if the match is 80/85% and you have a diesel version it would be fine - only thing I have found is that the Jeep is thirsty !

There was a small review in the 2008 CC towcar of the year awards. They were not over impressed. They said it to be worked hard when towing and the ride was hard with uncomfortable pitching.

But that was a while ago now, and it is very cheap compared to most other 4x4s.

I cannot comment on the towing ability of the patriot however i do have a 3.0CRD Grand Cherokee with which i am very happy. Twice when it has been in for service i have been given a patriot as a loan car.

The build quality seems very poor ( to such an extent that i would not even consider buying one ) and whilst it is a lot cheaper than my Grand Cherokee it is something that i could not live with on a daily basis.

Get in one and just tap the dash board ( not too hard or you will break it ) and then work on the principle that the rest of the vehicle is much the same.

Regards Darryl
