Kia Sedona Auto

Sorry to keep this going. We've found a 2005 Kia Sorrento 2.5crdi Auto in budget. Initial search seems positive (also chain cam) and no auto issues towing that I can see. Seems a good tow car for a 6 berth. Anyone have any info from experience? Good and Bad?
I had a 2004 Sorento auto and overall it was probably one of the best cars ever. In 6 years and 70000 miles nary a problem. Some did suffer transfer box issues but these were resolved by a change of oil. So I don’t expect one now would have any problems. The auto box whilst only five speed was just well matched to the car. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the rear axle supports corroded. Kia took this one on the chin and although it wasn’t a recall job any found to be affected were repaired at Kia’s cost. Check them out. I look in autotrader and am amazed at the number of Gen 1 Sorentos with relatively low miles and only one or two owners and FSH. We travelled extensively in UK and France and despite being only the 138bhp it took steep autoroute climbs and passes without any fuss.

God’s gift to caravanners 👍👍

Oh and its quite a good off road car too, with its various drive modes. I spent quite a few happy trips out on Salisbury Plain MTA and even with stock road tyres it did the business. I bought it after owning a Disco 2 TD5. No comparison. Enough said.

I have a 2009 Kia Sorento MKI 2.5 crdi auto as a towcar, it tows with ease, it's comfortable and gives no trouble at all.
The road tax is steep which is why there are plenty for sale to choose from.
Mine is the 5 seat version but Kia also do a 7 seat model.

I stand corrected. Never seen one myself. Used to service quite a few for a company that used them as staff transport to off road sites

I’ve had two Sorentos since 2005. The last one was an auto with the 168bhp engine. Never missed a beat and the gearbox was smooth. I always changed the auto box oil every two years. I sold her last year and know she is still going strong . Look around caravan sites and you will always a brace or two of Sories.
