Just had a quote from a main agent in Ipswich for my sedona for its second service 20000mls/2yrs, of £325. Two years ago with my first sedona it was £176 maybe the car is getting too popular.

I have another quote of £150 at a local garage, using Kia service parts and procedures maintaning the cars warranty, I wonder which one I should go for ????? What do you think

I don't think it's all main dealers, but if you want that Kia stamp they make you pay. My first service cost

I use Duckams, cris, and didn't notice it on sale when I was last in France. I'll get my mate to check. He's coming over next week.

Allen,

You may find it interesting that the average car dealership makes around 2% profit per year (source this weeks auto express) and judging by some of the large car groups that have gone to wall in the last 24 months then people have to respect that the dealership has to set charges.

What you might not appreciate is that the dealer that sold you your car could potentially have done so at a lost.

I know that one brand evens checks that its dealerships have their ramps regularly maintained etc @

When comparing servicing costs, particularly on newly designed cars (not necessarily the same as a new car) with intelligent service intervals, just make sure you are comparing like with like.

Oil Costs: A good quality fully synthetic engine oil - like Mobil 1 0W40 - will cost around

cris, you're right, oil is cheaper in France. My pal is fetching my next two services worth at the weekend. Thanks for the tip.

Rob ,the only reason for switching to fully synthetic is for longer oil drains.in some cases it does more harm than good.its friction reducing properties are that good it can lead to bore glazing and excess oil consumpion.

I have had a similar experience with my Hyundai Sant Fe.

After checking first with the Hyundai customer services,I now take it to my local garage, the only stipulation is that only genuine Hyundai parts are used and that the garage is a pucker VAT Registered business. The Warranty is also still valid.

The garage has to phone the Hyundai Customer Services first and get approval to carry out the warranted work. However at present i have not needed to have anything done (Touch Wood).

Have a great year everybody.
