Kia Sorento manual or automatic?

We have an automatic Kia Sorento diesel, which pulls our heavy Swift Conqueror twin axle with ease. In every review I have read about it as a tow car, they only seem to refer to manuals. Can anyone tell me why this is? I checked with the Kia dealer that the automatic would be a good tow car and it has been fine in all road conditions, up mountains in Wales etc, but I am intrigued as to why only manuals are ever mentioned. Ours is good mpg towing, and my husband loves it at junctions, hold ups, etc, as he doesn't have to keep changing gears.

Cheers

Hi Lois

We have a Sorento automatic, and I think its the best thing since sliced bead!

We towed to the French Alps last year, and it was a treat to drive.

We have had zero problems and as expected fuel consumption.

Our van is a heavy twin axle (Bessacarr 645GL) which it tows easily. Enjoy your machine - there's not much around to beat it!

Hi we chose the 04 with 5 speed auto as it's better in heavy traffic and when pitching the van no slipping clutch to bother about. The penalty of a couple of mpg less is worth it. Also the Sorento has been totally relaible with reasonable service charges. Overall a good tug.

Dear all,

Thanks so much for replying - and its really reassuring to hear that others have the automatic for towing big heavy vans. I was a bit worried that there may be problems with towing with an automatic. As you all say - how much nicer in urban traffic, at junctions, and just in general - one less thing to have to think about.

Isn't the Sorento a fantastic vehicle! We looked at Landrovers but were put off by both the price and the unreliability, the last thing you need when towing.

Just getting ready to go away for the weekend - to Hereford, where the weather forecast is for rain and storms all weekend!

Have a great weekend,

Thanks again

I love automatics for towing, BUT the down fall CAN come when the road fund licence is due.

With some makes of car the auto has a higher CO2 output putting it in a higher tax bracket.

My car gives out 222 the auto 225.

My tax goes from
