Kia Sportage 2001

We are thingking of buying a Kia Sportage its a 2001 and has done 21000 miles. All seems to be genuine. We have only had cars before to tow with and would like some comments please. How easy is the ride solo, how easy is the ride towing. ie we found on road test that it was quite a smooth ride and not the bumpy one we thought it might be. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Chris; not sure why no one is responding to this. However whilst I have no experience of the Sportage, and have ordered a new Sorento XS, there is no reason to suspect that the Sportage will not be an admirable tower. Of course it's smaller and lighter than the Sorento so you possibly won't be able to tow the largest of vans.

As you've test driven the vehicle and as you clearly know the kerb weight of the car and the max laden weight of the caravan, you can calculate the ratio and determine its 'on paper' suitability.

Speak to various KIA dealers; you'll get a view - albeit they 'slight;y' biased !

All the best

John

Take a look at this month's (November) edition; using a KIA Sportage to tow a largish (1440 fully laden) caravan was 'easy' and whilst the article is about testing the caravan, the Sportage was praised. So, there you go !
