kia sportage

We're lookig to buy a caravan and are also changing our car- we've looked at several but we both like the kia sportage- anybody got any opinions on this car (we'd be getting the 2.0 litre diesel XE 138bhp). Many thanks

I bought the same car over a year ago - been really happy with it, totally reliable (touch wood), averaging around 35mpg.

takes a bit of getting used to the indicator and wiper stems being on opposite sides, but not impossible. tows our little caravan happily and does all the other stuff we need (kids, dogs, runs to the dump, etc). you may find the XE a little basic, but it depends what you want and how much you have to spend.

try to get as much as you can out of the dealer, they seem pretty willing to do deals especially if you mention you are looking at other 4x4's - we got free towbar and dog gate, after a discount.

hope this helps, anything else just ask. Mark (",)

Hi

I have owned a Sportage for just over a year and use it to tow a Lunar at 1300kg. I think the Sportage is the best tow car I have owned high praise as my previous tug was a C5 HDI. Stability is excellent and I have managed to get over 340 miles out of a tank of diesel towing into a slight headwind (12.5 galls). It tows well in 6th gear and I have to watch the speedo as the car can crep up to illegal towing speeds. The car is well screwed together with no work needed at its first service, and this came in at

I might be wrong but check out the warranty period on the Kia Sportage. The virtually identical car from Hyundai (the Tucson) has a 5 year warranty, when we looked to change the Kia only had a 3 year warranty. Personally we preferred the Hyundai interior wise as well. Also does the XE have cruise control, worth paying the extra.

I think Hyundai are doing a special edition Tucson as the mo with extras for no more money. As previous post nose weight is 75kg which is not the end of the world most estate cars are 75kg nose weight.
