I have a rather naff 12v striplight beneath the overhead kitchen locker on my Elddis van and would like to replace it with LED for appearance and power consumption. On ebay there are dozens of sellers like this
-https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-12V-72-LED-Car-Interior-White-Strip-Lights-Bar-Lamp-Van-Caravan-ON-OFF-Switch/183200131820?hash=item2aa7942aec:g:BPsAAOSwAspbNd6J
a 72 LED switchable unit which would be easy to wire in as swap for the fluorescent unit.
For appearance and avoiding stark brightness I actually fancied an opaque diffuser cover but the only one I can find has a green glow to the on/off switch which could be annoying at night.
Anybody done this who can offer sdvice on suitable unit?

Have a look at this site. (Under LED strip lights) LED lights colour and intensity vary according to wattage and kelvin value. 2700K will give a soft yellowish light while at the other end of the scale 6000k is a bright white light. Most soft lighting is between 2700k and 3000k. Look for more detail here https://www.lighting-direct.co.uk/ideas/kelvin-colour-temperature-explained/

The real choice is down to what you will be mixing the light with. For example if you are using the LED light in the same room as a normal filament lamp then you need warm white with a colour temp of about 2700K so that the colours are the same. Most LED lighting fitted as standard in modern caravans is 2700K, although some are 3000K.
What is usually described as 'white' is 3000K which is about the same as a halogen lamp. Fluorescent lights are around 4000K and contain much more green, and 'daylight' white are 6500K which has a blue cast. The higher the colour temp the more blue in the emitted spectrum, so fitting such a lamp in a kitchen area will make food - especially red meat - look quite inedible as well as being rather 'stark' in the general light appearance.

Although we have stayed with what Coachman fitted to our 2013 coachman, we find a citronella candle in an empty cockles jar rather, pleasing, listening to some backround music, with a drink.

Thanks posters for your humour or hummus depending on your taste...
Any thoughts on this one (choose the no blue light option)
https://www.atenlighting.co.uk/touch-dimmable-rigid.html
as seems to be quite similar to those in the same under-locker kitchen lighting in latest Swift models.
The motion sensor variant seems fun - but no option to dlete the blue indicator with it and don't want any more night 'aliens' to go with the flashing of the CO2 detector!

Just unclips, squeeze it together and they lift off. They are shaped like an inverted U, just press at the end of each leg.
