Kuga ecoboost

what are opinions of the Ford Kuga 1.5 ecoboost as a towcar for a 1350 kg caravan

this will be my first petrol car for many many years and although the numbers add up I am still wary.
OH is fed up with noisy diesels and says it is time for a change and although i agree in principle I worry about power (150bhp) and fuel consumption when towing.
At the moment we have a 2 litre Ateca which has been fine but a bit pricy to replace now and the Kuga is ordered But still feel a bit nervous about the shock to the system
We don't tow that much but I would still like it to feel capable.
Anyone got one?

Before diesels became more common and refined most of us used non turbo petrols. I had a 2 litre 135 bhp non turbo Mondeo auto which towed a similar weight to yours. It was a good outfit.

The modern smaller turbo engines have good pull at lower speeds and are refined too. The smaller eco boosts had problems in their early days but the 1.5 litre seemed not to have been affected. Undoubtedly it will not be as economical towing or solo as would a diesel but if your towing mileage is less in relation to solo then that shouldn’t be a show stopper. Alternatively there’s the 2.5 litre KUGA PHEV. 🙈

I am of a similar opinion as OC, the only time you might feel the car lacking would be on hills, when you might be using a higher RPM than on the flat.

Looked at the 2.5 PHEV plenty of power but not really suited for towing (expensive too)
and the insurance was just silly
