leisure battery question

hi i`m new to the site and new to caravaning ... i have a compass caravan with no charger built into it i have no leisure battery, the lights and water pump run off 12 volt and i was wondering if i could run these off a car battery charger plugged into the caravan instead of running them off a battery as i leave the van on-site and am always on a hook up.

any advice would be great.. cheers.

regards lee...

lee, I wouldn't advise running the 12v equipment direct from a car battery charger. There are though plenty of 240v to 12v DC converters with 6A or so output available which should be adequate for a couple of flourescent lamps and the pump. The charger in my van has a specific facility for running the 12v equipment with no battery fittedbut is relatively expensive.
