i have a lunar gemini 2001 i am finding it hard to get the right nose weight i am also find that i can only do 50 mph withought it starting to sway from side to side can anyone help me on this matter.
Not sure what the kerb weight and nose weight of your car is. When loading the van are you ensuring that heavy items are loaded on the floor in the van as near to axle as possible. 2 otherthings to bear in mind is never backload the van to reduce noseweight plus do you drain down the water system including the waterheater and also do you drain the toilet flush prior to towing.
The noseweight should be as heavy as possible but still remain within the limits imposed for car, towbar and caravan hitch.
Remove all unnecessary weight, ie drain water system and toilet flush, empty toilet.
It might be helpful to make a list of every item in the caravan and allocate a weight estimate to each one - add them up and compared to your payload - you may be surprised, I was!
Swaying is a sign that the noseweight is too low. By redistributing load within the caravan or adding appropriate ballast ahead of the axle it shouldn't be too difficult to adjust the noseweight as necessary.
That's not our old Gemini is it? We found ours to be stable regardless of how it was loaded, what are you towing with?, being a twin axle, be careful to measure the noseweight on level, smooth ground
