Making a spectacle of myself!

I have a number of pairs of old spectacles that are no longer of any use to me.I seem to recall seeing(excuse the pun) that there is a charity that collects these, does anyone know any details as it seems a shame to just throw them away.

Thanks both for the info I knew that there was something that was being done with them, you would think that the optician would say something when you collect your new specs.

Our local optician has a box on the reception desk asking for old glasses - and they are collected by the Lions Club and taken by an optician member who has contacts and does some work in Africa somewhere. Do recycle yours - he has a display of photos taken of people wearing the donated specs, with great smiles on their faces!!

Don't forget that you can ask your optician to put new lenses in existing frames.

They don't like it, because they make all their money on frames.

Also, even if you want new frames, you don't have to buy them from the optician who does the test.

We now get ours online - last pair cost

Well posted. It is the same with expensive repeat prescriptions from vets. They make a cart load of money on these and, if there are any interested parties out there, I can give further advice on getting your vet prescriptions much cheaper. I am not trying to 'teach Granny to suck eggs' I actually know!!! Nor am I a Vet or Supplier --- just a member of 'Joe public'!
