max tow weight

Hi I have just brought a Ford Escort 1.6 Estate 1999 flight and what to know the max tow weight not the 85% rule ,any idea's on how to find out.

Cheers to all

You'll find it in the owner's handbook or on the vehicle VIN plate. Either it's quoted directly or it gives the max. gross train weight. Subtract the gross vehicle weight from that and you have the max. towload.

Unless I'm mistaken, the max. towload for a 1.6 Escort is 900kg, but check first.

I have just picked it up and looked in the book and

permissible gross weight 1650, Kerb weight 1135-1175,payload475-515. so how do i work it out .

cheers for your help in advance.

Is that all it says? No mention of gross train weight or max. towload, neither in the handbook nor on the VIN plate in the engine compartment? I find that a bit difficult to believe.

The figures that you give don't help.
