maximum towing weights

hi

i have been trying to find the maximum towing weight (not 85% kerbweight) for an audi 80 2.6 quattro estate and an audi 100 2.8 quattro estate. i have phoned dealers, specialists and tech desks but cant get the info. does anyone here have any idea as its driving me mad now

I've found a figure for the Audi 100 Quattro estate: 1900kg, but I can't find one for the 80.

it doesnt matter too much about the 80 as i need to tow 1800kg and dont think it will be up to it if the 100 tows 1900

I found an ad in a Swiss website where someone there was offering a AUDI 100 Avant 2.8 E quattro for sale and the details listed included a figure for the max. towload. I presume it's correct - it certainly sounds realistic.

I have the greatest respect for Lutz, and his information is usually spot on, but as you have found it difficult to get figures from Audi dealers, I would personally be a little wary about using figures gained from websites other than Audi's.

I would persevere with Audi, contact the manufacturer direct as only they can actually give the definitive answer.

Agreed. The information that I gave was only to serve as an indication. As the model is no longer in production, the manufacturers website is of no help, so any data out of the internet can only be secondhand. In cases like that it is essential to have the details verified prior to purchase of the vehicle.
