I think they all could use the same contractor with a low loader? I worked for a independent small breakdown company for a couple of months way back in the early nineties and we got calls from AA, RAC and others requesting the one of the few low loaders in the area. No point in investing in another low loader as most of the time it would sit stationery waiting for an occasion to be used and it was money tied up.I have always had Mayday rescue cover for my car and Caravan.
The only time I used it it took over 2 1/2 hour for a low loader to get to us.
What other Breakdown cover do others have and how quickly have they taken to get to you.
One of the issues with AA/RAC is that only a patrol can authorise a flatbed so you have two wait periods, one for the patrol to get to you, only to find they can't fix it by the roadside and then another for the flatbed to get to you - this is in addtion to the other downside of AA/RAC where you incur additional waits for each relay changeover if you're a long way from home.I have always had Mayday rescue cover for my car and Caravan.

Correct as that is what Mayday did when we explained the fault. The car was completely dead. In contrast, Green Flag can be persuaded on the phone to sent a flatbed directly if you've been able to diagnose the issue yourself - the flatbed will then take you all the way to your destination without further waits.
Another advantage of Green Flag is that they'll recover car + caravan to home if the car is undriveable due to accident damage - which is better than using you car insurance which would only recover the car, and only to the nearest storage facility.
That's an unusual method of measuring - but very useful, thank you.During my time as a Traffic cop it was Green Flag who always turned up the quickest.
The AA had the nickname of "The Atrocious Attenders" because their response times were glacial in comparison to GF.
Brittania Rescue were also pretty speedy operators.
If you have a service plan for the Toyota then breakdown is included.I’m with Sytner Select for the Toyota and with Britannia LV for our Kia. Sytner Select came with the car, but when it runs out in March 2026, then the Toyota will transfer to Britannia LV. Stopped using Mayday when we sold the caravan, and have always had one car on Britannia for many years and when required found them very good.
I’ve got a service plan with Toyota but it doesn’t include breakdown as the car wasn’t purchased from a Toyota dealership. But I did achieve breakdown/recovery from Sytner.If you have a service plan for the Toyota then breakdown is included.
The difference is the weights and length of caravan are limited, on Green Flag, it is 3500 kg 2 metres high and 7 metres.long, So not a problem. Mayday is unlimited. Weight Height and length.I'm also with Green Flag as when I looked into it, they offered a similar level of cover [For my needs anyway] to the CAMC Mayday product, but significantly cheaper. Happily, touch wood, not had to call them out. That may change as my car gets older.
The difference between Green Flag direct and Mayday provided by Green Flag is that Mayday will cover a double journey - eg if your car breaksdown while out for the day on a caravan holiday they'll recover your car to the campsite and then take both car and caravan home - on different days if you choose - but Green Flag direct will only cover the car unless you were actually towing the caravan at the time.I'm also with Green Flag as when I looked into it, they offered a similar level of cover [For my needs anyway] to the CAMC Mayday product, but significantly cheaper.
