Mazda Tribute 2.0 petrol

I have a Mazda Tribute 2 litre petrol 4x4, is there anybody experiencing the same problems in the way of poor mpg when towing or in fact solo. I am having a return of 22-25mpg on a fairly reasonable journey. Apart from what I consider to be a low mpg return I was surprised that it loses power easily on inclines for a 2 litre engine. I previously towed with a Mazda Premacy 1.8 and had a better performance with that.

David...I know exactly what you mean,I had one same as you only the 2 wheele drive version,2001 model, loved the car solo, driving position of 4 x 4 withouth the added expense, but towing no guts, gear changes at the slightest incline, mpg not great, reluctantly changed it to mondeo tdci which was a pleasure to tow with in comparism, mpg vastly improved more pulling power. Now changed to heavier caravan so got myself an older 530d series bmw tourer, with loads of power, hope this is of some help to you mate
