Hello again, I recently posted about towing with my Multispace 1.6 auto and I have abandoned that idea.
My wife has a Mercedes GLA 2.0 auto, our caravan is a Coachman 460 with a MTPLM of 1334kg.
Could someone please confirm this is a good match. I simply want peace of mind about this.
Many thanks.

There are a couple of questions that need answers:

towing limit of car
kerbweight of car, or Mass in Service

Knowing those we can provide some feedback. There are outfit matching sites provided by the two clubs, an an independent one called Towcar.info. If you put the car and caravan details in you will get a guide on the suitab of the outfit.

We tow with a Mercedes GLA 220d 4matic. The van has a MPTLM of 1340kg. This is within the towing limit (2000kg and kerbweight of the car (1500kg). We tend to travel fairly light, but the car tows well. The only down side is the low ish towball weight of 75kg, but manageable with careful loading
Suggest you check the specs of yours against the van specs. Putting thecar reg into Parker’s guide is a good way to get all the car specs.

The V5 will have the towing limit, and Mass in Service, and there’s also the cars tally plate which is the definitive information.

Hello Mel,
Presuming your GLA was originally sold in the EU, then if the tow balls 'S' or static vertical hitch load value is only 75kg, then the cars maximum braked tow load should only be 1,875kg not 2000! Not that it's a problem for your present caravan, but it's something to check before upgrading.

It may be that the tow bar fitted has a lower noseweight limit than the car

I can hardly see Mel towing even 1875kg when the kerb weight of her car is 1500kg despite what Mercedes may specify.

Thank you both. Will check specs. The tow bar limit I quoted is the nose limit of the car, Sorry if I was unclear.
As you say specs not a problem on this van and have no plans for anything bigger.

I am so disappointed I really thought that you would be up for towing at a 125% ratio

Thanks everyone who replied. Your replies have given me the confirmation I needed. After towing with a 2.5 auto VW campervan for over 20 years I simply needed that information.
