Mercedes Towbar problem

Hi Everyone

Has anyone had this problem with a factory fitted towbar on a Mercedes C220 CDI Estate 2009 model. When towing for the fist time last week with our Caravelair fitted with the Alko 3004 stabiliser we were unable to turn more than 30 degrees before hitting the bumper. Our local Mercedes dealer insists we have the right towbar a Westfalia retractable. Comments please.

Weird. The Westfalia website doesn't even list a retractable towbar for the C220 estate, only a detachable one. And the list shows 2 variants, one for cars before July 2009 (Part No. 313 315 600 001) and another for those after that breakpoint (Part No. 313 375 600 001), so it is possible that you've got the wrong one fitted.

I tend to agree, the Part No on the plate is 313 208 600001 which i cannot find on westfalia's website !!! but my local dealer insists the one they fitted is correct, their Part No is 2043100395. I phoned Mercedes customer services 3 days ago and I am still waiting for a reply.
