Hi We are off to France in a couple of weeks. A couple of the sites that we are staying at only have a 6 amp supply of electricity. I am a bit confused by the conversion charts if it will be ok for me to use the caravan microwave which is 700 watts can anyone advise

Regards Annie

Although your microwave is rated at 700w, its initial start up consumption will be around double , 1400w or around 6 amps.
As long as you make sure you switch all other heavy use electric items off, like water heater, space heater etc you should get away with using the microwave.

A 700 watt microwave uses about 3 amps steady state, but will have a switch-on peak higher than that which may or may not trip a 6 amp fuse/trip. Remember that you may also be using other high power mains appliances at the same time, eg water heater, hair drier(?), etc. plus other lower wattage appliances, eg battery charger, fridge, lights, etc
