Mildew on woodwork

Hi

Went to check my caravan today, haven't been since the beginning of the winter. I have a cover over the van. When i went in all the woodwork was covered in a green powder like a mildew residue. Some of it wiped off but some has stained the wood.

I have no marks on the cushions or anywhere else just on the wood.

Does anyone know how it has occurred and how do i get the marks off

A friend of mine had an Avondale that he stored in a barn and always left the windows on the night latch usually all was ok but once he went to it and had the same as you which would not come off the local Avondale dealer thought it was something to do with the wood!They sold the van.
 
Thanks plotter but before i can get rid of it i need to remove the marks. Tried white vinegar, bleach, mould remover. Not sure what else to try next.

I have just had a look on Yahoo (quoting: How to remove wildew from wood) and it came back with some suggestions and possible reasons for it to occur. Perhaps you might like to take a look.

Thanks Ann i also had a look on google but it doesn't give anything that will remove it. it seems as though it is in the wood
