Athe end of our trip to France this summer we left the caravan at a site near St Omer for our daughter and partner to use. While they slept, someone cut through a window in the awning but knocked over our bikes and made off without stealing anything. Others on the site were not so lucky losing a lot of equipment, credit cards etc.

I've made aclaim on my insurance for the repair (£130) at Isabella. The above named company have sent the following reply:-

refusing to cough up for the damage because

1. didn't tell them I was going to France

2. didn't tell them my daghter (aged 26) was in charge of the caravan

3. cover provided for relatives in any case doesn't cover France

4. Policy doesn't cover loss or damage caused by theft, attempted theft or malicious damage not involving violent or forced entry into or out of the caravan.

Me thinks they didn't want to pay. Premium was over £350 being a new for old policy.

As nothing seems to be covered I'll be cancelling first thing in the morning and looking elswhere.

Beware this company's small print.

Whilst I am sorry to here of your problem, as an insurnce broker, I always insist that my clients read all the conditions of the policy, or,as you put it, the small print. If they are not happy then they have the right to cancel the insurance within 14 days. Incidentally, I do not know of the company you quote. Are they the actual insurer or an ageny?
