I understand from reading this forum that the Mondeo 130 tdci is a great tow car,I hope so because i have just taken the plunge and bought one. 55 plate ghia x 5 door hatch. My question is what sort of weight caravans are being towed by these Mondeo`s.

Many Thanks

Andy

Update: The mechanic just rang me to inform me of his findings, his computer told him that i had contaminated fuel, i had only 5 miles before filled up in tesco, no fault relating to the recent headlines, he simply said that tesco fuel is rubbish, it all needs to be drained off, ecu reset and a fresh tank of good fuel. hopefully it hasnt killed an injector.

so, in summary, no fault of the car.

Hi George what wieght van do you tow.I have just had a test drive in a 55 plate ghia x 2.0 TDCI. Very impressed, but will it pull my MTPLM of 1400KG.

All the best

Andy
Hello Andy, My 'van is a Bailey that is about 1300KGS fully laden. With the Vectra you certainly knew the 'van was there but once out of 2nd gear we fairly clipped along. Everything points to the Mondeo being a much better car. I hope to get as much towing as I did solo out of the Vectra. I don't think you would have any problem toeing 1400 KGS. I think the kerbweight for the Mondeo is about 1500KGS. The towing limit in the manual is 1800KGS. The car has grunt and I shall be towing with it in a month's time so will be able to confirm its abilities then. Best Wishes, george T.
