I own a 130 TDCi Mondeo estate with 6 forward gears ,and i tow an Bailey Senator Indiana 1500 KG allthough its not loaded to its limit ,being an estate it has ample room in the rear to store equipment ,your Kerb weight should be on your Log book under Mass in service ,mine says 1564 KG ,i also own a Nissan Terrano 2.7 seven seater ,and believe me the Mondeo 130 TDCI pulls up hills a lot more stronger than the Nissan Terrano ,cruising along at 60 mph in 6th you will find you are doing about 1650 rpm while in the nissan you will be doing 2500 rpm ,so we mainly use the Nissan during the winter

I totally agree with Joby on the mondeo 130 tdci. Its a cracking towcar- plenty of mid range power, and very rarely do I find the need to change down on main road/ motorway driving.

If I could find one fault with it , it would be that on wet grass the mondeo has very little grip ( the obvious downside to FWD cars ). So if you want my advice buy a pair of Fiamma grip mats. They work a treat,

I agree with all that is said. Mondeo will pull well and lots of power but remember stability. If you start to wobble at the back you need something heavy upfront. I wonder if the mondeo is enough.

Personally, I've towed with the mondeo for 4 years now, towing vans of 1260, and now 1410 kg, in all weathers, and have never had any heart stopping moments. Sure the odd little wobble, but absolutely nothing to concern the towcar, ( or the wife for that matter, and that is saying something !!! )
