Hi all

This summer my mate and our families are driving down to Agde South France for a three week holiday. We are hoping to bed down for the night about three hourse from Agde. This would be aroud the Millau area on the A75. Have any of you guys got any experience (good or bad) from sleeping on one of the Aires around Millau, could you reccomend one.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you really can't stay overnight on site in Millau (which is definitely worth it just for the views of the viaduct from your pitch) then stay just a little north at the Aire d'Aveyron near Severac le Chateau - which is a very big 'Aire' but at the top of the site there's a quieter area for caravans. The others around the viaduct itself are too small and too much traffic noise, and the Aire du Larzac south of Millau we thought a little unwelcoming. However, my first choice would be to find a campsite in Millau - you'll find some cracking sites - and many set up just for an overnight stay. Cross the viaduct on your way south, leave at the exit for La Cavalarie, and drive back down into Millau on the old road, stopping at the viewpoint for spectacular views of the viaduct, then go underneath the viaduct just to see how HUGE and HIGH it is! Honestly it's worth an overnight stop just to see it. We've watched it being built, and were there for the opening to the public.

Many thanks Val. Will probably take your advice.
