new caravans

looking to buy a new caravan from leisure sales the lunar with end bedroom sep toilet and shower. can anyone advice on caravans with the fixed beds.

Sharon caravaned for 35years tried them all but finally setled with Baily on second new van got no regrets good quality and good prices as well.

Hi Sharon

We have always had a fixed bed and we prefer to as you do not have to make up the bed each evening and we have proper sheets and quilt. If one of you wishes to go to bed or have a lie down you can. Also as we caravan on the continent alot, when we stop we just go into the van and we can have a sleep and then continue on our journey.

You can get fixed beds that go down the caravan or go across the bottom or single fixed beds. It is all a matter of choice there is no better way than any other, in the end it is what you prefer and what suits you.

As we have a double axel caravan and a German one we do not have the problem with the curved cut off as in many English vans. So if you are thinking of a fixed bed make sure you lie on it to see if it is ok first before buying.

I cannot comment on the Lunar as I have never had one, you will have to rely on others for their opinion.

Good luck with your buy. Joyce

sharan,

Hi, Having read all the problems that people have with their

new vans and dealers, I must join the band of Bailey owners, I can honestly say that I have never had any problems with my bailey caravan, or the dealer that I buy from, presently buying a series 5 ranger 460/4 with the fixed bed layout

Best of luck with your purchase you will enter a new world, meet loads of charming people, who will allways give you advise or help should you need it .

Hi Sharon, we have a Lunar and are very happy with it. People keep harping on about leaky lunars but look on this forum and there are loads of complaints about other vans. I have to say when we looked for our van we looked at Bailey and Lunar and although the Bailey is good value for money the interior wasn't as nice as the Lunar - it looked cheaper. Your gut feeling will tell you when you have found the right van. Denise

Hi sharon,

Got to agree with Denise. I looked at a great many caravans before deciding on my Lunar (which is 5 years young next month)LX2000 and no leaks so far - touch wood. I suppose any van can spring a leak, if you are unlucky.

My son had a Bailey which sprung a leak in the wheel arch, previous owner had over loaded and the tyres had scrubbed away the arches.

Best of luck on your decision which ever way you go!
