Hello Mark,

In my view the CaSSOA accreditation scheme is a licence to print money.

Accredited sites still insist that caravans are left at owners risk, and any discount on insurance premiums for using such sites does not offset the additional cost of using the site.

If these sites do offer a 'Secure' facility let them put thier money where thier mouth is and take responsibility for the property left in thier care. If thier security fails they should pay for any damage or loss.

Sadly some insurance companies are insisting that owners should use a CaSSOA site, personally I walk away from such companies.

Five twin axle caravans were stolen from a secure compound on a caravan site at Cromwell near Newark.

I'm just about to put my twin axle into winter storage and have noticed more and more of these multiple thefts.

I wonder what security the caravans had and what level the storage site security was.

Yes.....my van was on a 'secure compound' once....which should've read 'spare bit of hardstanding yard the farmer's got doing nothing so he's fenced it off and is charging more than the local CaSSOA Gold site for storage and because most people haven't got storage, they take it.'

I'm VERY pleased with the site my van is stored on - CC TV, Alarmed, TWO electronic gates, Prison fencing....

And cheap too!
