After some anxious months, the PCB's are due back to go into our Thetford 3 way fridge. I just hope that this finally remedies the faults that meant that the fridge wouln't work. If? worse comes to worse, has anyone found themselves in a similar position that meant having to buy a new fridge? I'd appreciate any tips as to where from and at what price please?

There isn't that much that can stop a fridge working other than PCB failure (the usual one) heater element failure, or refrigerant leak.
What's wrong with a simple, mechanical, three position switch is beyond me. Precious little to go wrong with them.
I think it's called "progress" but it's certainly a nice little earner for replacement PCB's for someone!

I have supplied and fitted second hand fridges from caravan breakers to people. Also fitted replacement PCBs for them
Have you Ian? A good second hand fridge seems acceptable but what garantees come with them from Breakers? Then there's the worry regards Transporting them? Guess I'll have to look into that possibilty if all else fails tomorrow? We have a lovely 2012 caravan that is well cared for but this situation is very worrying?

Most breakers will arrange transport to you. Look at SFM website to see their T&C s and see if the have one available. They have a good reputation.

Were your insurance company happy with you fitting second hand parts, most exclude them when you are a business, as they could be an unknown quantity 🤔

The insurance company has nothing to do with it I explained to the customer the options - new fridge at £798 and second hand with me warranting it for one year at £275 , alternative fit a domestic compressor fridge at about £277 and cap off the gas supply. In my insurance terms and condition there is no mention of second-hand parts exclusions , but I will, after your post , have another look.

That’s odd, most sole traders in the caravan industry (if they check their insurance (every sole trader can be different) state can’t supply second hand parts or words to that effect 🤔
It’s normally due to the unknown potential issues of a second hand part

Hello all? Both PCB's back in. fridge is back in situ if only to check all is working as it should. Trims and all back in after a full test. Initially, all seems fine, 240v working but I noticed the little on/off button doesn't seem to function? Gas turned on and I had to wait some time before it would work on Gas. Did eventually but then bizarrely? Blue light started flashing. Turned to 240v (On hook-up out on drive) but after some minutes 240v stopped working?. Hooked up to car with engine running Blue light flashing? Thoroughly peed off, I went in for a coffee and a re-think. 20 minutes, went and saw now Code9 gone and fridge working on Gas. Turned 240v on and Blue light on and Code8 gone. Car back on hook-up to check but Blue light still flashing and Code 10 showing. Now to check car socket for power while engine running. Pins 10 and 11 Are these the correct ones to check please?
Loosing my mind here?

Off the wall - if you stay on a site and do not tour a friend of mine fitted a domestic fridge which is then cheap compared to 3 way caravan fridges.

Not really my area of expertise but I've long thought that if my fridge died could I replace it with a regular domestic fridge.

While it's possible the advice is that after transporting a fridge that uses fluid and a compressor you should allow it to settle for somewhere between 4 to 6 hours. This may not always be practical if your touring a lot.

....I have a 1.5 cu ft compressor freezer that I take in the caravan when I think it will be useful and I'm on EHU.
It's been transported to Andalusia in the caravan at least 10 times as well as many shorter trips.
Never bothered about waiting for it to settle.
Works very well at 15 years old.....I consider it my best ever caravan extra at £99.

Whilst this is the recommendation from manufactures I worked for 6 year on a cross channel ferry in horrendous conditions at times and we had domestic fridges in each cabin people had brought over the years. Never a problem
