Hi I have a new Kia Sedona in black (LS model) just bought it a couple of weeks ago, I bought it because its a large MPV and I have a large family! Its the mannual version because I intend to use it for towing my 6 berth caravan. Tow weight is 1450 and the kia can tow 2000. However I bought it with my fixed bed caravan in mind (when the kids have flown the nest -some time in the next 10years!!!

I have only just had the van serviced and pick it up using the Sedona and hardly noticed it was there. The engine purrs. I have had a lot of cars and since having my van the Sedona will be the third car to tow it. My previous car was a 4 x 4 but the Sedona is the best car my partner and I have ever driven.

(And the kids love the car as well, even a trip to tescos means a fully laden car, especially in the half term!

Does this help?

lizzie, you dont have to wait 10 years for that fixed bed. bailey are doing a 6 berth fixed bed. side fixed bed, side dinette, and a double or two singles at the front. all that and still light weight.bless ya

Hi Jo-Anne,

We are on our second Sedona which is a silver 54 plate model 2.9 diesel. Previously a blue 52 plate, which showed up all the scratches.

Tows a bailey pageant bretagne 6 berth and only really feels it on the steepest hills. Have been very impressed with both sedonas especially as we actually have a better mileage towing than we get for normal use. The 75 litre tank normally returns about 450 miles around town but when towing at constant speeds on motorways we can get upto 550 miles depending how far we go.

All in all a great car - and that is without mentioning the dvd player that keeps the kids quiet.

Hi All,

Just to echo other comments about the Sedona. We bought ours new on an 06 plate last April. Just passed the 24k miles stage, tows like a dream, but watch wear on front tyres. I've just changed these for Pirelli P6. Kia fit KUMHO tyres as standard, but they're not as good, especially as car is front wheel drive. Silver is also the colour of ours, good choice.

Another issue is the Kia servicing cost.

hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know we have picked the new kia sedona up and its fantastic. there is so much grunt in it and for a diesel its really quiet.

we has the LS model so it has electric doors, privacy glass and yes the rear windows do work on this model aswell as the electric rear quarter windows.

ill keep you all posted when we use it for towing.

thanks

Hi, just found this topic which is close to my heart.

I have a 1 year old Diesel Auto 2.9 Silver Sedona bought from new. Older style.

I tow a Bailey Senator Louisiana 1695kg max twin axle also new. Fixed Island bed = Home from Home luxury.

Kids (age 14 and friend) prefer to sleep in the Awing which on this caravan is the size of a Cheddar cave. This means they have their own space and can talk about teeni stuff without me joining in. We use 1 or 2 frame tent bedrooms which seem more substantial and less see through than the awning bedrooms I've seen.

This arrangement means we can relax using the Caravan seating and dining once the kids are in bed and in the mornings.

The Sedona tows the Van no probs, I always use the Cruise control whenever practical and keep to a relaxing 55mph which helps fuel economy and can be maintained on almost any hill. Fully capable of 60 and more.

The Car / Van combo is very stable although you get a bit more shake on uneven roads with the double axle.

I run with the awning and other heavy items in the car to increase the Car to Van weight ratio although probably not necessary, better safe than sorry.

1st Silver car I've owned, doesn't show the dirt or scratches, shines up nice.

Loads of space, luxury feel, perhaps not the most refined car on the market but value for money you'd find difficult to beat.

Agree with comments above re the built in DVD and large fuel tank. I get over 40 mpg when not towing and taking it easy, shame the chancellor hammers me with the highest Rd tax bracket. Can't be right but what can you do.

Lizzie - don't wait till your past it to get the fixed bed van, life's too short, buy the best you can afford as soon as possible and get loads of good use out of it, especially the fixed bed.

Lizzie, I was a bit puzzled as to why you had gone for the manual gearbox. Our last three towcars have been automatics, although before that we towed with manuals. The autos are so much better that we would never consider going back to a manual. Is there a specific problem with the auto gearbox on the Sedona? I would like to know, because the Sedona is on our list of possibles for when the time comes to change the car, but if the auto isn't up to the job, we would be crossing the Sedona off altogether!

Hi

We've towed with a Sedona for the last three years. They are all the things everybody has said, but a word of caution, we have just spent

Claire - A local Taxi driver reported a gear box replacement in a Sedona after 60,000 miles.

Was your Manual or Auto ?

I'd be interested in a bit more detail about the rust so that I can keep an eye open for the same. Whereabouts at the back did the rust appear ?

Claire a new law was passed over 2 years ago which states that as long as your independant garage uses Kia parts they must uphold your warranty.. do not let them off with it.
