New Mitsubishi Outlander

Hi

I am thinking of purchasing a Outlander diesel or the new Honda CRV.

At the moment I am favouring the Mitsubishi as it has slightly more room inside for dogs etc plus I think it has slightly more mpg. Plus the offroad capability is a bit more useful.

My question is has anyone towed with one of these or know if the 2000kg tow figure is reliable.

Hi Jane,

A bit new I think, for any towing feedback. I do like it though, much better spec than the old petrol model and a useful towbar and max tow figure.

I know from personal experience that Mitsubishi's are super reliable, well the old Shoguns certainly were anyway and Iv'e read nothing about the later models which contradicts this - The Japanese have definately mastered the art of quality and reliability and they still top all the polls.

That and Mitsis reputation as an all rounder would make me go for it - if I had the pennies that is!

A 2 tonne tow figure would enable a single horsebox tow but I guess the kerbweight would mean vans up to about 1500kg being the practical limit.

It would seem to be a real alternative to the X Trail and with an Auto diesel option and a more modern engine it should be better (Nissan is going Renault too which is scary!)

I'm also seriously considering the Outlander. Nice looks, 2wd most of time, extra 2 seats, not too big but wondering whether Grandis with kerb weight higher at 1800ish but ball weight 85kg or Outlander with kerbweight 1700ish but ball 100kg would be more stable (85%=1650 kerbweight). Would be interested to see any feedback on Outlander. Have a Kia Sportage at the mo and its good but want something with 5+2 seats.

We have been looking at the Outlander also. But I am not too sure if it should wait for a while. Luckily we are not in a position where we need to swap yet. The current new Outlander uses the VW motor and this engine puts out loads of power and has quite a lot of torque. It will soon have a 2.2 brother added and this may be a slightly better option. I have also been thinking about the new Renault Koleos which has a 180BHP 2 litre turbo Diesel and is out next year. It looks like there may be a few nice new cars out over the next 12 months. Both should also be clean motors which will make road tax cheaper ten even our current Renault RX4.

Hi Angela,

This is not about the Outlander, but could you tell me about the Sportage. Which model you have, what you tow and what you really think of it. Again there are few of these about and need good or not feedback.
