New subscriptions to PC Mag

If I sign up now I'll get a free first aid kit worth £14.99. As a subscriber for years I have had nothing free although in fairness I do love the Mag.

So what do I do?

Cheat? Cancel current sub and take out a new one?

Why doesn't loyalty count for anything anymore???

Cheers

Get your wallet out Dustydog me old mucker.

I'm sure your loyalty is appreciated mate, but you're not looking to profit from it are you ?

We haven't done it with Practical Caravan - but with the RSPB we just let our membership lapse in one name (Mr Val A - well Mr T actually) - and then the following year I take out one in my name - and each year we get the 'introductory' free gifts, and it doesn't cost us any more. Mind you we are now having to give away bird books, and feeders as Christmas presents.

Morning Val,

Sorry, but I can't understand your thinking.

I'm presuming that you joined the RSPB as you care about birds and want to contribute to their protection. By doing what you're doing are you not lessening the RSPB's effectiveness by taking taking these incentives, which are meant to encourage new members. The cost of the free gifts obviously comes out of the charities own coffers.

I'm probably wrong in my assumptions though.

Regards,

Alex

Yep, you're right.

At least they still have your yearly subs.

Most people wouldn't even join in the first place.

Cheers,

Alex.

Alex

Forgetthe RSPB etc; we already support them and two other charities.

Haymarket is NOT a charity and LOrd Hezza is getting richer by the minute.

I've subscribed for years. It's people like me who keep the wheels turning at PC mag because they can budget on dead certs.

All I ask is , now and then, can we have a loyalty bonus like the fat cat bankers???

Now what's wrong with that my old mucker??

Cheers

Hi Dustydog,

Never happen mate. Free gifts to existing subscribers doesn't make financial sense, less profits.

As you say, Haymarket aren't a charity, they are out to make money. I think you may be overplaying your importance to them, I'm afraid. It would be different if a huge group of us subscribers decided to defect, if we don't get a loyalty bonus, but I can't see that happening.

Fair do's if there was a PC loyalty scheme, like in a local / social club, the Co-op etc, when I subscribed. But I knew that this is a magazine and a business and I wouldn't expect to get anything other than what I pay for.

I agree that loyalty is an excellent attribute and should / could be rewarded in some circumstances eg, the Co-op with their dividend.

I don't think that we are very far apart in our opinions Dustydog.

Cheers,

Alex.
