All caravan and camping sites are required to be licenced by their local authority - this applies to the Caravan Club (CC) and Camping & Caravan Club (C&CC) own sites as well as commercial sites.

The CC and C&CC are also authorised to issue exemption certificates to sites with up to 5 caravans subject to certain other conditions. These sites are known as CC Certificate Locations (CL) and C&CC Certified Sites (CS).

CP is just an abbreviation for Caravan Park, presumably licenced.

A point to note is that CL and CS sites are only allowed five vans and are often on farms etc so usually rural and very pleasant not all have EHU but many now do and also some with toilets too.

Note too that you can search CLs on the caravan club website and choose from a number of featuers, including electricity, nearby fishing, dogs etc (and dare I say it, adults only)
