Hi,

We are looking at going to the lakes next month for a week, any recommendations?

We have a couple of kids so a decent play ground would be handy.

Would prefer somewhere with a decent on-site bar also.

Thanks.

Quiet site used to be gorgeous when we looked at it a few months back it seemed a bit tatty and unkept

Im not a love of Windermere we find it extremely over commercial and not what the lakes is all about thats just our personal opinion though.

The old post office is good in wastwater thats the best site in the lakes but its very quiet pub next door but no playgrounds or onsite bars

Castlerigg has stunning views (keswick)and more set up for kids without being too "butlins" for a good compromise try waterfoot in pooley bridge you have the steamers, pubs in pooley bridge and its a lovely site great scenery

Hi There!

I would highly recommend Waterfoot Park at the north lakes just near Penrith. This site is only about 4 miles from the motorway but is very quiet and has fantastic views of Lake Ullswater. There is a play area on site and there is also a bar on site which is very good again with stunning views and there is also a small shop with all the essentials.

Hope this helps!

It's a couple of years since we stayed at the Quiet Site. I agree the location is good and the children's play area is good, the toilet/shower block was in dire need of an update, as was the bar. It was quite dingey and desperately needed a refurb last time we went.

Hi Dan,

We stayed at Park Cliffe last October. Large playarea, stream to play in, excellent facilities block and small bar, shop too.

We highly recommend it.

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi Dan, We stayed at the Quiet Site, Ulleswater 2 weeks ago. Shower block has been refurbed & is immaculate. Bar is cosy for adults, great for all aged kids as has soft play area upstairs for little uns & air soccor, table football, pool, table tennis & tv lounge downstairs. This was our first non caravan club site for 10 yrs & cannot fault it.
