Has the Qashqai overtaken the X Trail in the kerbweight stakes or has the mag once again got the data wrong in a towcar test

They claim it to be 1866kg(inc 75 kg for driver)for the +2 2.0 dCi Tekna 4 X 4 Auto
 
It is conceivable that 1866kg is correct. The data that I found for the Qashqai+2 2.0dCi 4x4 Auto shows 1807kg which is close enough to the figure that you have. With a few extra options this could easily reach 1866kg. Nevertheless, as always, published kerbweights should always be treated as a guideline only. Variances of up to 100kg are not unusual.
 
What car shows max kerb weight at 1653kg.

Max tow at 1400kg.

Qashqai is only 4320mm long, can't see it weighing more than Aventura x trail which is over 1700kg.
 
carfolio quotes 1732kgs for a 2008 model qashqai+2 diesel 4wd auto. so if the tekna has a few extra gadgets and fittings it could possibly 1800 or so kgs.
 
I found a figure of 1696kg in Whatcar for the above model (2.0 dCi Tekna All-Mode 4WD), although it's not clear whether this is for the manual or automatic. Assuming it is for the manual, and allowing for about an extra 50kg for the automatic, that ties up fairly closely with the 1807kg that I found. The remaining difference is within variances to be exepected.

The figures i gave were for the 5 seat Qashqai, not the 7.

1696kg as Lutz quotes.

To be honest i didn't know a 7 seat existed.
 
Whichever data is correct, fact remains that the Qashqai is a darned heavy car for its size and the maximum permissible towload is disappointingly low, even less than 85% of the most conservative of the quoted kerbweight figures.
