Hi Lee

We test drove a Terrano 2.7 and Xtrail 2.2dci at the weekend and without a doubt the Xtrail felt much better to drive. It also felt more stable and like a car, but this was my first test drive over the weekend in any 4x4 so my view is coming from a 4x4 newbie! Not sure what the 3.0 Terrano would be like, but for power there seemed no comparison between the two afore mentioned vehicles. The Xtrail we took out for 1/2 hour, the Terrano we turned round at the first roundabout and took it back as we did not like the feel, but maybe to be fair we did not give it a good enough run for it's money. Anyway, needless to say we are hunting for a 2004 Dci Xtrail which has the increased bhp and have been told should be a good tow car.

Good luck hunting

Meant to say, sounds like you are in the same boat as us, we also test drove the Sorenta, but out of our price range for a good condition low mileage vehicle.

Hi, we had a 2.7 Terrano touring for 5 years and towed many miles in europe with caravans circa 1450kg, Terrano never failed us I would describe it as a workhorse and would have another one, We changed for a Sorento 2.5 diesel last April and would not hesitate to recommend it, great all round performer. More refined than the Terrano, you could look at the smaller version of the Kia, Tuscon but remember to check the weights. Not heard any bad vibes re x-trail either but if you move to heavier caravan then it's Terrano or Sorrento.

I tow with 2.2dci sve x-trail and the wife just drives,it tows lovely and has plenty of guts, also remember it drives 2 or 4 wheel when left in auto select for road condition change.

100kg tow ball weight, kerbweight 1515-1650 no definate KW from nissan and my son works for a nissan garage they said go to a weighbridge.its comfortable a little noisy at start up but with radio on you cant here it.not at all thisty and drives like a dream, will get another or look at pathfinder.

My freinds have a terrano and that seems a real tugger, but not sure how juicy.

Hi Stephen

In the Nissan data for new Xtrail we notice there appears to be a choice between 2x4 or 4x4 and we presume these to be two types of vehicle on the market? If this is the case how do we tell the difference as most adverts don't mention in the spec. We phoned a Nissan dealer today and they thought it was all 4x4 in which case the brochure makes no sense and is confusing as it qoutes a different kerb weight and 0-60 for the two vehicles?
