Hi Dave, we just brought our 2003 Nissan X Trail 2.2 di only had it for a week, so far been please with it, Fill the tank up with diesel and done 200 miles and the fuel gauge is between 1/2 and 3/4 full, Think I am getting 40 plus to the gallon, but I spoken to other member who had X Trail they said 30 to 33 towing, depent on how heavy the van is? So we can't wait to tow with it on Friday, Happy Caravaning, Trevor

I owned an X-Trail (2.2DCi) for two and a half years and towed all over Europe with it. Towing economy (carefully measured) ranged between 23 and 26 mpg pulling a van weighing 1325kgs. Solo economy varied greatly depending on the type of journey and how heavy the right foot was! I do quite a short journey to work and around town it worked out at 26mpg however on a long cross country run I once managed 40mpg. If you don't do many short journeys you should manage to get into the 30's mpg.

We have had our X Trail 2.2dci from new in 2004. We get 40mpg average solo - mix of around town and longer journeys. Towing a Bailey Indianna we get about 25 mpg. Our laden weight is about 1400kg.

I have a 2.2dCi Columbia (Aug 06) and towing our Senator Oklahoma (1499kg MTPLM) averages 26 to 27mpg. Almost all of our solo driving is local with single trips of less than 15 miles and so far the car has returned a fairly consistent 37mpg.

I would agree with the previous posting as we have the same outfit (XT & Oklahoma) and get about 25mpg towing and max ever has been 39solo with 36 being average.

The only way to check is to brim the tank every time which I do.

Trevor you may have found by now that 1/2 full is not the same as 1/2 empty on the XT.The bottom half is much less than the top half of the tank!!
