noise from roof

sorry, me again, the other thing is that, when we were in cleaning the van today - the wind was blowing fairly briskly and the roof of the caravan was making a wobble-board sort of noise, sounded like the aluminium flexing, should it sound like that??? Is it innocent or something horiffic? (caravan in an 80's (???) ABI Monza) thanks again, Jon

It's Normal. we had a ABI tristar and if you looked in the rear view mirror when you were doing about 55 mph you could see the roof ripple. 🙂

Hello Johnathon,

like Doug I'm not surprised.

The roof construction the 1980's tended to be and aluminum out skin on wooden beams with the interior ceiling stapled to the beams. The gap was usually filed with slabs of foam for insulation. The roof structure was generally not bonded, so the aluminum was free to to ripple etc.

Cheers Doug and John, what a relief!!! With everything else I'm worrying about since getting the van it's nice to cross the clangy roof off the list! Thanks for your help, Jon
