Northumberland to Scotland down to Lakes

Hi - we are thinking of travelling upto Northumberland for a few days and then onto scotland - Fort William area and then down to the Lake District for a few days. Does anyone have any advice to offer or recommendations to make - regarding where we stay etc....

if you are using CC sites, then I would use :

Northumberland River Breamish excellent site

Scotland: Borders Gibson Park nr. Melrose excellent site

Trossachs area Killin Maragowan excellent site

going north from Killin gives you a few CC sites in excellent locations and with excelent facilities

Regards

Sheila

For Northumberland Waren Caravan Park near Bamburgh is large but very nice tel 01668 214366. Also Ord House Country park at East Ord tel 01670 787649 on the outskirts of Berwick Upon Tweed is both nice and very accesible from the A1. South of Fort William there is Bunree of course which is probable already booked up but there is an equally nice site at Invercoe also on the shores of Loch Linnie with fabulous views. It is situated at the end of Glencoe just before the Ballahulish bridge tel 01855 811210 At Fort William itself there is the Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park tel 01397 702191. We havn't stayed here but I believe it is suppose to be fine. If you like some isolation Resipole near Strontian across the Corran Ferry is lovely on the shores of Loch Sunart tel 01967 431235. Hope this helps.
