HGV trailers often have a channel on three sides so that the tractor-unit's reg plate can simply be slipped in.

I did buy a chrome plastic number plate holder from Lidl thinking I could swap plates over by undoing a couple of screws but it won't fit in the recesss on our Indiana. Its tricky to work out something secure but easy. Thanks anyway.

I use a very heavy duty velcro It was advertised in one of the mags, I have three strips on the back of each plate & they line up with the ones on the van, a firm press & they lock together & a wood spatular up the back to prise apart when the other plate is required to be put on

This is the stuff from 3M, they call it Dual Lock Fasteners

Hi Sir Sproket

Might give that velcro a shot first as it isn't obvious whereas those clips might be seen and plate theived

Sikaflex is what I used to bond my solar panel brackets to the caravan roof so it should hold the number plate bracket.
The dual lock velcro should be ok though Dave, I used ordinary domestic type velcro to hold the plastic surround of our microwave oven in place and it does the job with no problems.

I used velcro on my old caravan and it lasted for aver ten years with no problems. Don't be tempted to use a massive amount as it is then difficult to swap the plates over. I had two strips vertically about 5 cm from the ends of the plates.

As above! Cheap and simple.
