Do any of you remember any bizarre tv programmes from the 70's?

One that comes to mind for me was 'Fantasy Island'

Mr. Roarke and Tattoo - do you remember 'the plane!, the plane!'.

The usual format of each episode consisted of an introduction in which Roarke would describe to Tattoo (or another assistant) the nature of each person's fantasy, usually with a cryptic comment suggesting the person's fantasy will not turn out as they expected. The episode would then alternate between two or three independent storylines as the guests experienced their fantasies and interacted with Roarke. Often, the fantasies would turn out to be morality lessons for the guests, sometimes to the point of (apparently) putting their lives at risk, only to have Roarke step in at the last minute and reveal the deception. It is mentioned a few times that a condition of visiting Fantasy Island is that guests never reveal what goes on there. A small number of guests decided to make the irrevocable choice to stay permanently, living out their fantasy until death.

On a serious note - I wonder if anyone is so unhappy with their lives, that they would actually like to live some sort of fantasy lifestyle?

Coronation Street! We've not had a TV for over ten years, but I watched it on Wednesday at my brother's, and it's still the same dismal story!

All this week I have had to go into town to pick up the free Darling Buds of May DVDs in the Daily Mail for my wife. She has always liked David Jason and this programme.

Lisa it was I who had a slap on the wrist from Mr. Mod. If I did offend anyone regarding my comments about Bridgend in a religious manner I do apologise. The posting was directed to Lord B. but I am sure it was not him who was hurt. Still you win some you loose some.

Liz you have instructed both Lord B. and myself to "go stand in the corner". I hope and prey you do not intend for the two of us to stand in the same corner at the same time. Third world war springs to mind.

Oh dear!!! This thread is making me realise I am getting on a bit! Yes, I remember all the programmes and, sad to say, I even had a Muffin the Mule childs teaset as a Christmas gift. Wish I had kept it unplayed with and boxed it would have been worth a bit now! Well, back to my afternoon snooze.

The other one I forgot to mention was the Brian Rix Farces from the Whitehall Theatre London - gauranteed that somehow or other he would loose his trousers in the show. Also the Billy Cotton Band Show and the Black & White Minstrel Show. Oh those were the days eh what what?
