......I have an Igenix electric fire I use in the caravan. It has two radiant rings of 400 watts each and each is independently switchable.
The two switches are marked correctly with the I and O symbols. The casing adjacent to the switches is marked correctly to show ON and OFF and the switches illuminate when ON.
..........oh! and the radiant elements glow red when the switches are on😉

I definitely know when the fire is on.

We could discuss ISO 9000 considerably but my take on it was that you could make absolute rubbish products or services but at least with Accreditation you'd do that consistently.
I agree thats what our BS5750 ( renamed ISO 9001 later) assessor said. My boss paraphrased it :- we can choose to make Ford Escorts or Rolls Royces, I think caravan manufacturers are erring on the side of Ladas :ROFLMAO:

Before I Retired we went through a period of gaining iso 9001. We had a bible of QAF forms that had to be completed for every task we did.

Quality Assurance Form

Frankly at the sharp end it was meaningless . The QAF form said I was compliant but because of the variables it brought nothing to the table, nor could it legislate for the number of variables.
But in fairness the FSA and FOC demanded we had these protocols. More importantly each of us trading in the Financial Sector had to be tested annually to keep our certificate to trade . Not easy !

In regard to the switches it’s simple.
The paper work exists but it doesn’t endorse the efficacy of the subject matter it pretends to cover!

Sam is spot on.

But we digress. Wrong switches and gas valves etc will continue in the caravan industry ad infinitum.
Where is the real time Quality Control?
