onboard water pump

i have a new swift charisma with a sureflow inboard water pump.

when it operates its makes nnoise like a merlin engine. is this normal.?

and it over runs when we close the tap.

thanks in advance.

Phil normal to over run as its pressurising the line l think, mine is little noisy on my Ace but not enough to cause us a problem

As NGH says, overrun is normal, usually about 5 seconds as it reaches the set pressure.

Noise on the other hand can be down to two main causes, the first being that the inlet hose is not seated properly in the inlet and is allowing air to be drawn in , the second is where is the pump mounted and is it overtightened on its fixings.

For the inlet hose, use a smear of silicon grease on the 'O' rings, or change the 'O'rings for new ones.

Mounting problems can be reduced by fitting a rubber cushion or sound deadening pad under the fixings.

thanks fellas , that answers my questions. The noise doe make me think that some air is in the syem so i will do the inlet seal and check the mounts.

Many thanks.

10 to 1 Phil, the noise is just the pump working properly with no air leak, however sorting its mountings may make an improvement.
