our van has an onboard watertank whats the best way to fill it as it has no 12 volt supply ok to use a hose when near a tap but this is not always possible. is there any pumps around that have there own power supply thanks in advance.

Normally the pump would plug into the side of the van and connect to the 12 volt supply. Are you saying that you have no plug in point???

If I can get close enough to the taps on arrival, I fill up with a hose.

Otherwise I use a 14 litre plastic watering can, this is a lot lighter than an aquaroll, meaning I can carry more alcohol!

My guess you have a Hobby (or such like van). We had a Hobby and found that the only way to fill it fully was to use a hose pipe direct from the tap to van. However you should never use a normal garden hose as these can be toxic. Only use a special hose purpose made for the job. You can buy it by the metre from Caravan Accessory Shops.

I have this system on my Hobby, and I intend to fit a 12v outlet under the 'van. I don't know of any water pump which has its own power supply.
