No, there aren't any service stations near to Pool; the nearest would be at Rownhams on the M27 where you would have to pay if you were to stop for more than two hours AND it's forty miles away and the traffic along the A31 on Good Friday could be a nightmare.

Why not consider one of the Forestry Commission sites in the New Forest.? This is their website ...

Hi Anthony

I would avoid Rownhams it is notourious for caravan theft the twice we have been there caravans have been stolen(they where left unattended).

If you go further along the A31 just before Ringwood there is a parking area on the left, with a Waitrose supermarket i often see caravans and motorhomes parked there as well as HGVS.

Hope this helps.

Tom.

Thanks for the information re caravan theft at Rownhams - I didn't realise things were that bad.

The spot you mention by Waitrose is a public car park and he would need a ticket to stay there after 8.00am. For very little extra cost, a Forestry Commission site would be lovely and peaceful and it would have reasonable toilet facilities etc.

Hi Tom & Oliver

Thank you very much for the advice, we should be down there about 11pm so will give the waitrose a try.

It also adds abit if adventure to just pull over and jump in the van and have a kip!!

Thanks

Tom,

I've seen your warning today about Rownhams services and caravans going missing there, thanks for the heads up....

I will be stopping there next week but have a choice on day/time, when did these other caravans get stolen (during the week or weekend, in daylight! - or at nightime) .....

so I can avoid loosing our hard earned caravan!

Thanks for your time in reading and replying in advance.

Rob.
