Passat 1.9 vs Jetta 2.0

Hi all, i am about to have to replace my company vehicle and have the option of either a Passat 1.9 tdi saloon or the Jetta 2.0 tdi saloon. As i understand it both of these vehicles have a max towing weight of 1500kgs although that seems to depend on who you ask / where you look. Does anyone have any comments as to which of these is best suited to towing.
 
I'd go for the larger and heavier of the two, the Passat, unless there's an overwhelming reason to take the smaller, Golf-based Jetta.

Thanks for the comment Lutz, i was a little worried about the low BHP on the Passat but i must admit i havent looked into weight ratio.
