hello, some help would be greatly appreciated.i intend changing my car in the spring and tow a swift challenger 530 se 2000 model (1345kg) i think or could be 1275 MIRO looking on what tow car. i was thinking a 2litre car minimum perhaps about 140 bhp and i really fancy a passat estate. i have just viewed a 1.9 passat diesel est. highline TDI 130 bhp the spec says max towing weight braked 1600kg. unbraked 650kg. engine torque 210 lbs/ft. i was wondering if this car would be suitable or should i still be looking minimum 2 litre

regards

HI! Brian i used to have a 55plate Passat 1.9 estate towed a Swift charisma 555 1460KG no problems plenty power (actually to much wheelspin ) i changed it for KIA Sportage just because i felt the passat was just that we bit twitchy when being overtaken by large buses charging along on motorways at 70mph (they are supposed to be governed)only thing i didn,t like about the Passat was the push button handbrake .otherwise i would still have it .very fast and great to drive with massive room when rear seats down .Hope this helps

hey thanks duggy thats what i was hoping to hear. if the truth where known the 1.9 is probably a bit light for the weight of the swift (think it could be 102%)but i can cope with that.
