Peugeot 406 or Skoda Octavia diesel

Can anyone give me an idea of fuel consumption when towing with a 2.0 or 1.9 diesel. My van is 1200kgs so should not be a problem weight wise.

At present i use a 2.5 v6 vitara which is thirsty when towing.

I tow with a 2ltr Citroen C5 which has the same engine and transmission as the Pug. Fuel consumption on my C5 is very much speed-related. Be content to job along with the HGVs and I get near enough 30mpg. Move up to 65mph and consumption drops to 25-26 mpg. I also tow 1200Kgs and towing is effortless - mostly in 6th gear.

Hi I have a 406 2.0 hdi and tow a 1400kgs van usually on a long run on the motorway I can acheive around about the 35mpg mark however once on A roads that can drop to the 30mark but that is actually quite good considering you are towing a caravan.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for info, but i have been told we are buying a hatchback,

Anyone any experience of a 110 bhp Peugeot 307 i quite like the look of them.

my parents tow a 1410kg bailey pagaent champagne with a kia sedona and we just got 22mpg mostly on motorways, this might not sound alot but when you look at the weight of the car on its own (2 ton) then on top of that full awning, annexe, trolley jack, 3 adults, 3 kids, luggage i personally think it is good. the car has is a 2.9td.
