Yes to both, although I'd prefer them to tow it themselves to save me the hassle.

We have our ten year old Senator that we kept as second caravan for friends and family to use.

Apart from the water pumps playing up it as fit as the day we bought more or less.

So yes, we also loan out my wifes car with it some times.

Last year we lent our van to some friends to use on the Gower whilst their daughter was doing a university field project.

I towed it down for them and set it up. I would be happy to let a friend tow, but only if they were experienced at both towing and caravanning - and even then I would be aware that our van is very non-standard.

The issue has never arisen, however I would consider it.My first reaction to the questions was NO!But thinking about it there may be circumstances where I would say YES

I'm with Dave and hope they wouldn't ask in the first place. I,m afraid the answer would be no, not with this van or car.

The answers for me are:

1. I might consider it if the person/s were very tidy and respectful of other people's property. Some people, even best friends are way too slap happy!

2. No, I wouldn't let anyone else tow my van in that situation, only in an emergency would I allow an experienced person who has the correct license to tow it.

I paid for it I use it, its that simple.

Anyway nobody I know tows, or I those that do I don't trust their driving.

I have let people stay in the awning in the past, that's as generous as I get when it comes to MY van (ok our van, sorry SWMBO 🙂 !!)

The friends we have that could tow, have their own van.

Would let CERTAIN friends sleep in the awning - possibly.

its no to both from me, our van is looked after very well by us and i would not trust anybody to care for it the way we do.

we do however allow the few relatives who dont have theire own van to stay with us but they get the make up bed at the front i wont give my fixed one up for any one.

We have just lent ours out to an ex neighhbour for her parents in law to stop on ex neighbours drive for weekend. They are using it as a bedroom. I said a straight no at first, but then hubby changed my mind, My ex neighbour works with my hubby so I know where to find her............. no seriously folks, think my ex neighbour is of the good quality kind! knowing her it will come back cleaner than it went.........

A lady and gent we know borrowed her brother in-laws beloved caravan for a continental trip. At the end of the second week they had a problem with their car and hit the armco on the autoroute. The caravan disintegrated aand the hold outfit spun and ended up in bits half on the hard shoulder and half on the bank.

Her husband was clearing debris from the road as she called his brother on her mobile explaining that the car and his caravan were a right off.

His response. "are you both OK". ("yes but the caravan") "who cares about that, I can get another one but can't replace you two".

She still marvels at the response and they have borrowed his new caravan.

So yes I would lend ours to a good friend in need, when our son asked to borrow the van and my husband was telling him to take care until he reminded him that his day job wheels cost about

1. Yes, have done - to my son and four friends (on a site where they were already known and approved of). They were no trouble on site, kept the van immaculate, and had the best holiday they've ever had.

2. Yes, to my sister and her partner. Equally, they love the caravan, and now have a holiday in it each year. Usually somewhere we've already towed it to, and leave - but occasionally they tow.

would and have sited it for them.

Yes i would have too give them the towcar as both have not heavy enough towcars to tow it

I have frequently let my son borrow the caravan and my car to take his family on holiday.

However after trying to advise my son on hitching up problems over the telephone from work on one occasion I now ensure that setting off only takes place when I can be on hand. Because of this I ended up paying for my son & his family to have a holiday in a rented apartment in Spain last year rather than let him take the caravan away whilst we were away on a cruise.
