Reality check.

Good morning all.
Now that my head is now truly busted, (as a newbie getting into caravanning) with facts and figures and weights etc etc, I saw a ‘thing of great beauty’ yesterday that gave ma a smile :-
An old Ford Fiesta driving along the road pulling one of those caravans with the pop up roofs.
so it can all be pretty simple !

I had a pop top it’s MTPLM was 1000 kg so probably within the towing spec of a few small cars. Unfortunately when I took mine to be weighed it came in at 1250 kg. But a long story, although it towed beautifully.

Some of the pop tops are very light and some Fiestas can manage those and the lower roof line helps with wind resistance. Weights are possibly the hardest thing to get right though.
There is something for almost everyone and that shows it.

As Raywood says, ‘there’s something for everyone’…..
We’re sitting outside our tent just now in Hornsea, and watching caravans coming and going playing the old ‘ too big’ , ‘ too wee’, ‘ too fancy’ game…….
Winner so far for our First Van Vote is going to a lovely Lunar Ariva 🤔🤔

This is what we towed with Fiat Punto & Kip Kompakt 300 kk
it was very lightweight but it was great

We started life with four of us in a ten foot Piper and a 1,300 Escort many years back, so I know the pros and cons of these very compact caravans.
