My VW Touareg renews annually on DD.
Last year £265 Today £305🤬Mrs Theeves slipped that in quietly.
Any ideas what benefits I will enjoy with the increase?

Is that all?
You got away lightly, C's 1993 RAV4 went up to £415 last time in June as for the next time I haven't looked yet.
Was the increase done by the present lot or a hangover from the last lot? The RAVs increase was the last lot.

The V 10 engine was even better, with minimal increase in fuel cons, but I don't know about VED.
I think fuel usage is considerably more on the V10 as the annual VED is £700 - they are getting long in the tooth now with many ordinary jobs needing the engine taking out!

I'd have bought the V8 TDi rather than the V6 but VW UK decided not to sell it here - it gets good reports as a towtug in Australia.

The last couple of annual changes were based on the rate of inflation

I’d look on it as a compensating charge that counterbalances the increase to employees NI payments that were introduced in 2022 to create the NHS and Social Care fund. Then earlier this year they were effectively dropped as a pre election giveaway. So your increase in VED could be used to support the NHS/Social Care. 😂

Isn't that effectively covered by the recent increase in employers NI ?
