Hi we're still looking at lightwieght awnings so I would be really interested to know if anyone has had any experience of the Quest Romany awnings? Seem to be some bargains out tere on them, but are they worth it?

All the best

Hi Jennifer, thanks for the reply. It was the 400 I was looking at on ebay. Will be really interested know how you go on with it. Please let me know.

We're going to check the size against the caravan and then might order myself.

Having trouble with porch sizes because of going across a window.

Many thanks

Tom

Greetings,

I bought a Romany 400 from a caravan accessory dealer on Ebay. I put it up this weekend and quite frankly I'm rather disappointed.

The 400 uses the same poles as the 300 but, because of the distance from one side of the awning to the other I don't think the poles are man enough for the job.

The centre pole had a fair amount of bend in it which was rather disconcerting.

The other thing was that although each awning is described as a "300" or a "400" dont be fooled into thinking that the awnings measure 3mtrs or 4 mtrs. They dont. I have fallen for this and now have an awning that, no matter where I put it on the van finishes on a window.

The instructions are a nonsense and if you do buy one you would be well advised to get everything out of the bag( but dont count on getting it back in again LOL) and tape up the ends of the poles with a code in insulating tape.

Oh and by the way. There are four poles that contact the ground but there are no solid ends to the poles so you would be advised to visit a hardware shop with the pole ends (once you have identified them that is) and buy yourself four walking stick ferrules of the correct diameter, I'll save you the bother, they're 19mm.

I agree that it is virtually impossible to repack it into the supplied bag. Whover did the factory packing must be strong and skilled. Howver the instructions were not that bad, although they did not mention the two poles that are used to make an awning when you lift up the front.

Cheers

Hi Clive,

Have you worked out how to put that ground level pin into the outside pole. Mine didn't have a hole in the pole (or are you supposed to put the pole thru the hole in the pin???)
