We only use the roofbox when going on our annual two weeks holiday, all other times we dont need to take it. I think it helps break the air against the front of the van more so on motorways.

A roofbox will improve towing consumption but if you leave on once at site you'll negate any gains.
ye its our 2 week hols but my lad has a lot of fishy fishing gear so ill be putting that in there from now on its also where to store it once on site?

I have a roofbox permanently on the car. As I'm driving a 2 tonne brick outhouse, I don't think the lack of aerodynamics caused by my roofbox will make a great deal of difference! The only reason for the roofbax is so that the dogs have the boot to themselves - I must be nuts!
